Newark may have only been a few days ago but there’s still no rest for some members of the regiment as we move swiftly on to our next two events.
Last weekend, a number of the regiment headed to Pontefract Park again to take part in Wakefield Armed Forces Day. After the success of the event last year, we were very excited to be going back and setting up camp again.
This weekend we’re going to be taking part in our next event. You’ll find us taking part in Wakefield Armed Forces Day, held at Pontefract Park, next to Pontefract Racecourse.
We’ll be setting up our Living History camp and will have a range of people for you to come and meet, both portraying military and civilian life in the 17th Century.
August Bank Holiday has rolled around for this year and once again it was our biggest event of the year. This year we were at the beautiful Scampston Hall in North Yorkshire and we had a wonderful weekend with a particularly memorable (or in some cases a little hazy!) cocktail party!
After the success of our event at Kenilworth Castle in May, and to repay the favour that our friends in Lisles regiment had done by coming to help out again and play our enemy once more, it was time for Newcastle’s to come and do their bit at Lisle’s own event at Helmsley Castle in North Yorkshire and what an excellent weekend it was!
As well as our bigger events, we’ve been taking part in some of the smaller events that have been happening up and down the country.
These smaller or ‘mini’ musters are a great opportunity to make new friends with other regiments of the society and get involved in even more weekends. They’re good fun and often provide some of the most memorable events in the back catalogue!
Whilst the Newcastle’s Blog Writing Fairy was sunning herself in the South of France, the regiment took part in the annual commemorative march at the battlefield of Marston Moor, Yorkshire. Once again Graham was there and is able to step in and provide a round up of what went on! (The Newcastle’s Blog Writing Fairy will be making far more effort soon!)
