Last weekend we all headed to the beautiful grounds of the Compton Verney Estate, just outside Kineton in Warwickshire for the first of our 375th Anniversary events, which you’ll see more and more of over the coming years. This weekend it was to re-enact the Battle of Edgehill which happened on the 23rd October 1642.

Last weekend, the regiment headed out for the first of two events we are taking part in at English Heritage properties this year. As the hosts, we had a lot to do but it was a great weekend and we had lots of fun.
With the help of our friends in Lisles regiment, De Gommes reigment and some people from the Kings Guard and Houghtons regiments, we had a great weekend enjoying some fantastic public engagment and some more light-hearted battling at the beautiful Kenilworth Castle and Elizabethan Gardens in Warwickshire.

This weekend the Regiment will be heading out for the first big event of the year. We’ll be heading to the beautiful Kenilworth Castle in Warwickshire for a two day event as Kenilworth is besieged! We’ll be portraying 17th Century life within the walls of the castle and throughout the day skirmishes will break out as the castles walls are attacked.
The partially ruined castle will provide a stunning backdrop to the event and the Elizabethan Gardens, 17th Century Hedge Maze and castle towers will provide plenty of other things to see and do during the day.
At the weekend, Newcastle’s regiment headed out for their final event of 2015 at Edgehill in Warwickshire. The event was held at Kineton Sports and Social Club, in the village of Kineton, just on the edge of the original battlefield.
Having braved the rain on Saturday, glorious Autumn sunshine accompanied us on the memorial march on Sunday morning and held through to the battle in the afternoon.

This coming weekend is our last event of the season and much as we are sad to see the season drawing to an end, we’ll be enjoying this last event to the full.
